CONSTRUCTION NEWS

Virginia Street at Plumb Lane on September 20 and October 2, 2019.

Crews paved the lower section of Virginia Street last week from Plumb Lane to Mt. Rose Street. Remaining concrete sidewalks, final paving, median island construction, striping, signs and landscape and aesthetics are in process. Side streets are paved and crews are installing signs, striping and sidewalks this week.

Construction Look Ahead

A new roundabout will be located on Virginia Street at Mary Street and Center Street.

Roundabout Construction at Mary Street

Beginning the week of October 14, construction will begin on the new roundabout on Virginia Street at Mary Street and Center Street.  The entire operation will take approximately six months.  Crews will work on underground utility improvements on Mary Street first, then concrete sidewalks.  The roundabout will be constructed in two sections (east and west) to maintain southbound traffic on Virginia Street. During construction, drivers can expect closures and detours on Mary Street and Center Street. Businesses will always remain accessible.  Detailed detours and traffic control maps are in process and will be available in next week’s update.
