Virginia Street Midtown Update

Two-way traffic resumes on Virginia Street from Center/Mary Streets to Plumb Lane by Friday, July 3. The new roundabout will include a new art sculpture coordinated by the City of Reno and landscaping to be installed in the next few months.
Construction will temporarily shut-down for the July 4 holiday from Thursday, July 2 at 5 pm, resuming on Monday, July 6 at 6 am. Enjoy a safe and happy Independence Day!

In preparation for the opening of the roundabouts as part of the Virginia Street Project, the RTC encourages the community to view the video, “How to Safely Drive Through a Roundabout,” produced by the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Nevada Department of Public Safety.
Construction Look Ahead
All operations are weather permitting.
- Virginia Street is two-way traffic from Center/Mary Streets to Plumb Lane.
- Virginia Street is one-way southbound from Liberty Street to Center/Mary Streets with two-way traffic anticipated in August.
- Drivers can expect lane shifts on Virginia Street at Liberty Street for concrete improvements.
- Crews are placing center medians, striping the roadway and installing landscaping on Virginia Street from Liberty Street to Center/Mary Streets.
RTC’s Route 1, RAPID Virginia Line, and UNR-Midtown Direct will continue on a northbound detour on Holcomb Avenue and Center Street. Southbound buses are on their normal routes. Check route and schedule information at rtcwashoe.com.
